Hours

28 hours over 4 days, Mondays and Fridays essential, with flexible days across the rest of the week, including some evenings and weekends

Pay

£19k per annum (pro rata)

  • An energetic, organised and motivated person

  • Comfortable working in a small team and talking to a broad range of people

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Happy to pitch in when working under pressure

  • Good working knowledge of social media platforms and posting

  • Experience working in events and/or delivering projects

  • An interest in visual arts

  • Administrative experience and great IT skills

  • Some design knowledge would be useful, but is not essential

 

The Role

As Marketing & Operations Assistant for GIANT, you will work closely with the rest of the gallery team to ensure the smooth running of GIANT gallery, our social media presence, the gift shop and overall visitor experience.

The role will include the following responsibilities.

GIANT marketing:

  • Working with the Gallery Manager to create and schedule posts and stories for the GIANT social media accounts to promote the exhibitions, events and the gift shop

  • Assisting in building our audience and online presence and engaging new visitors to the gallery

  • Producing marketing materials for print and online as needed

GIANT shop:

  • Maintaining the gift shop stock and GIANT merchandising levels, researching, purchasing, reordering and compiling stock checks and reports when needed

  • Working with the gift shop visual merchandiser to develop and facilitate new shop features, layouts and relaunches

  • Processing customer payments and orders, and wholesale subscriptions and stock returns

  • Developing the refreshments area into an integral part of the gallery

  • Facilitating gallery launch events; drinks purchasing , glass hire and bartending

Admin:

  • Replying to email and phone enquiries and managing the gallery inbox and associated docs

  • Helping the Gallery Manager to manage the gallery contact lists and audience

  • Assisting the Gallery Manager to create and share staff rotas and manage holidays and leave schedules

General:

  • Welcoming and assisting guests during their visit to the gallery

  • Gathering and documenting visitor feedback and attendee numbers

  • Overseeing the gallery space and its artworks and ensuring they are safe and protected at all times

  • Recording and storing atmospheric data for the gallery

  • Supporting the install and deinstall processes for exhibitions alongside the gallery team
